Snowboarding Trips for the Carbon Conscious Holiday Maker

Thousands of avid skiers will presently be looking for their skiing gear and shooting off looking for the greatest snowfall. And beyond any doubt the results from our carbon footprint will be nearly as far down the list of vacation to dos as a xmas cracker after Christmas. Only last winter, a sluggish snow made the the headlines and holidaymakers were panic struck about the flakes of snow melting almost as soon as they settled.

Snowboarding company Chalet 1802, based at the foot of Monte Bianco in Chamonix village in the French Alps, is one of the only autonomous businesses to go carbon neutral and give snowboarders an environmentally friendly selection while reserving their ski trip. Chalet 1802 founder Kit stated: Last winter was quite a surprise with the hottest winter in sixty years in Europe. French resorts for example La Plagne, Portes du Soleil and Bessans has difficulty. It was balmy and the snow did not last so much of the early winter snowboarding season in the Alps was patchy. We chose to become carbon negative to assist in the preservation the skiing resort.

Kit said: We’re not seeking to prescribe to punters but I feel it is crucial to afford the clients the selection without increasing the price of the holiday. When the client book with us and holidays in our skiing chalet they can more than off set their carbon footprint and we absorb the extra prices. Of course we still have a sauna and a hot tub – customers require luxury but not at the expense of the surroundings, so we looked at ways of diminishing the affect of someone driving over here for a skiing holiday.”

Chalet 1802 have also linked up with organisation Climate Care, who attacks climate change by providing C02 reductions for individuals and companies.
