Ace Probabilities

When playing Texas Hold’Em online poker, each player gets dealt two pocket cards. Most players love to see an Ace in the hole. Although the Ace is the highest ranked card in the deck, it often needs to pair with the board to win. Even when it does pair the board, it’s possible another player is holding an Ace too. In that case, you need a good kicker to go with your Ace. When you do get an Ace for a pocket card, what is the probability that another poker online player has an Ace also? The chances that another player is holding an Ace too are slightly less than 75 percent at a 10-handed table, and about 69 percent with nine players. However, if an Ace comes out on the flop, then the probability of another poker online player holding an Ace is reduced to about 38 percent, and about 57 percent at a table of nine. Just because you are holding an Ace does not ensure your will win, even when the board pairs it. Because it is possible and even probable that another player holds an Ace, you will need to out-kick your opponent. If you are holding an Ace, and two more materialize on board, then you have a 60 percent probability of being the only player holding an Ace among ten hands, and a 64 percent rate nine-handed. That creates good odds that your trip Aces will finish as the winning hand.
