Blind Raising

We all hate getting our blinds raised on us. It’s one of the most frustrating and annoying things that happen in this game of poker online that we play. Consequently, online poker players love it when we have an okay hand that we would normally not always play but can see a cheap flop mwith in the big blind if no one raises. Many great pot wins in my playing days have resulted in having hands like 8-10 in the big blind and then flopping a straight or three of a kind. And if people complain I always say, “Hey you should have raised me, I was just playing the big blind.” Consequently, you should not get attached to a mediocre poker hand simply because you were in the big blind and was able to see a flop. I was playing some Texas hold em at a casino this month and saw a hand that was a perfect example of this. A guy who was in the big blind had called against two other people. The flop came out 9-7-2. one guy made a big bet, the second folded, and the big blind player called. The turn came out a king. Again the first player bet and the big blind called. The river came out an ace. Again, the first player bet and the guy who had been in the big blind called. The bettor turned over an A-K and the guy in the big blind turned over 9-6. now normally, I assume he wouldn’t play that hand, but since was in the big blind and could see a free flop, he was hooked. Even though he flopped top pair, the hand wasn’t that strong, especially after the turn and river. Let it be a warning to you.
